PR 91 - Cunha and Weertman confirm 2018 overall win

Ana Marcela Cunha (BRA), among women, and Ferry Weertman (NED), in the men’s category, confirmed their overall win of the 2018 edition of the FINA/HOSA Marathon Swim World Series, after the conclusion of the eighth and last leg of the circuit, on November 9 in Abu Dhabi (UAE). For the Brazilian star, this is her fourth win in the competition, after previous successes in 2010, 2012 and 2014. For the Dutch, 2016 Olympic champion in Rio, this is the first consecration in the competition.

PR 90 - HD World Cup: Record of participation in Abu Dhabi (UAE)

A total of 40 athletes (28 men, 12 women), from 20 National Federations, are ready to take part in the fifth edition of the FINA High Diving World Cup, taking place on November 9-10, 2018 in Abu Dhabi (UAE). This is a new record of participation, since this discipline was included in the FINA programme in 2013. Since then, High Diving was present at the 2013, 2015 and 2017 FINA World Championships in Barcelona (ESP), Kazan (RUS) and Budapest (HUN), respectively; moreover, World Cups were successively organised in Kazan (RUS, 2014), Cozumel (MEX, 2015) and Abu Dhabi (2016 and 2017).

PR 89 - Victories for Greece, Russia, Hungary and Italy, Spain wins one but loses one too

The FINA's Women Water Polo World Leagues European preliminaries kicked-off on Saturday November 3 and continued on Tuesday November 6 in various European cities.

So far, Spain is the only team having played two games. In the first one Saturday, the Spaniards were defeated by the Russians 12-9 (4-1, 3-3, 3-2, 2-3) in Volgograd (RUS), but they took their revenge last night, beating Israel 11-5 (4-0, 2-2, 4-3, 1-0) next to Barcelona (ESP).

FINA Statement

Following the events surrounding the organisation of the Water Polo game between Spain and Israel, counting for the second round of the European preliminaries of the FINA Women's Water Polo World League, to be held in Barcelona (ESP), FINA would like to clarify:

- According to its Constitutional Rule C 4, "FINA shall not allow any discrimination against National Federations or individuals (competitors, officials, judges, delegates, etc.) on the grounds of race, gender, religion, or political affiliations";

PR 88 - FINA increases prize money for Hangzhou 2018

FINA is pleased to announce that it has substantially increased the amount of prize money to be distributed to the best swimmers at the upcoming 14th FINA World Swimming Championships (25m) in Hangzhou (CHN), from December 11-16, 2018.

The total prize money for the competition is 2’070’000 US dollars, with 1’530’000 US dollars prize for the best ranked swimmers in individual events, and 540’000 USD for the best relay teams. An additional 15’000 US dollars bonus is given to each new World Record established in the Championships.

PR 85 - WPWL 2019: Russia, Netherlands, Montenegro, Greece and Croatia win first game

The FINA Men's Water Polo World League first round of the European preliminary phase was played yesterday evening, Tuesday October 23, in various European cities.

The Russians beat Malta 18-5 (2-1; 5-2; 3-2; 8-0) Gzira (MLT), while the Netherlands, playing at home, defeated Ukraine 15-5 (2-0; 2-3; 5-1; 6-1).

The Barcelona game between Spain and Greece was the tightest last night with a 5-7 final score for the Greeks (1-4; 1-2; 2-1; 1-0).
