PR 73 - SWC 2018: Seven World Cup records to open the series in Kazan (RUS)

Sarah Sjostrom (SWE) and Vladimir Morozov (RUS) are the first provisional leaders of the 2018 edition of the FINA Swimming World Cup, after the first leg of the competition, held in Kazan (RUS) from September 7-9. The Swedish star, winner of the series in 2017, concluded the Russian leg with 60 points, while the local star amassed 54 points. This initial meet was highlighted by seven World Cup records.

PR 68 - Spain bags the Youth Water Polo crown in Belgrade

The youth Spanish team won the 4th FINA World Women's Youth Water Polo Championships tournament on Sunday September 2 in Belgrade, Serbia, after a week of fierce pool action with the world's 16 most promising teams.

The Spaniards defeated Italy 8-7 in the final on Sunday night (1-2, 3-2, 2-1, 2-2), as both teams climbed up a spot compared to the last edition's ranking*.

PR 67 - Bids for 2025 and 2027 showcase are now open!

FINA opened this week the bidding procedure for the 2025 and 2027 editions of the FINA World Championships and FINA World Masters Championships. According with the calendar related with this procedure, interested National Federations and Cities should firstly notify FINA of their intention to be involved in the bid(s) by no later than November 26, 2018.

On January 25, 2019 FINA will organise a meeting in Lausanne with this potential interested candidates, while formal bids have to be received by FINA by no later than April 25, 2019.

PR 65 - Italy shines in Lake Ohrid with 2 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze medals

The Italian long distance swimmers were the best on Saturday August 25 in Lake Ohrid (MKD), as they grabbed all medals up for grabs but the women's silver when the famous region was hosting the third and final leg of the FINA UltraMarathon Swim Series 2018 with a 25km-long race.

Francesco Ghettini of Italy touched home first in 5h13m59s62, while Eduardo Stochino was second in 5h14m10s72 and Andrea Biachi completed the podium in 5h14m11s69.

PR 64 - Strong 16-team field ready for action in Belgrade

Sixteen youth teams will be facing each other from Monday August 27 to Sunday September 2 in Belgrade, Serbia, when the capital will host the 4th FINA World Women's Youth Water Polo Championships 2018.
