FINA inaugurates World Swimming Championships pool with Myrtha Pools

The 14th FINA World Swimming Championships venue at the International Expo Centre of Hangzhou China was officially inaugurated this afternoon, December 10, on the eve of the start of the competition.

FINA partner Myrtha Pools have been building the temporary swimming pools (competition and warm-up) in a record time providing the most exclusive and advanced technology to match the world standards for the top-notch six-day event. FINA President Dr. Julio C. Maglione spoke at the ceremony.

Day 2 of Swimming Coaches’ Golden Clinic

The second day of the Swimming Coaches’ Golden Clinic at the Hotel Intercontinental was overflowing with attendees.

The sessions were mediated by four-time FINA World Championships swimmer from Australia, Bobby Hurley.

The morning session contained a coach developing Asian swimmers while the second steers a World and Olympic champion to success. In the afternoon, sports medicine experts gave an overview of injury and illness assessment, treatment and prevention.

PR 103 - FINA signs agreement with ITA

FINA has signed today an anti-doping service agreement with ITA, the International Testing Agency, a non-for-profit foundation which provides independent expert anti-doping services.

The ceremony was held at the conclusion of the “Anti-Doping – Ensuring fair play in Aquatics” topic at the FINA World Aquatics Convention, being held in Hangzhou (CHN), from December 8-10. Benjamin Cohen, ITA’s Director General, was one of the speakers in that panel and then signed the agreement with FINA President Dr Julio C. Maglione.

FINA Convention Day 2 “We swim in clean water!”

The second day of the FINA World Aquatics Convention was highlighted by a morning session which provided the delegates with a unique opportunity to learn the key principles of fundraising and other non-traditional ways of generating revenues.

Well respected and experienced speakers at this session were International Fundraising Consultancy CEO Bill King, crowdfunding website samitpatel.net owner Samit Patel and IDG China Vice President Zhang Li. Bill King introduced the work his company does and explained the principals of fundraising.

FINA STATEMENT

FINA has taken note of the filings with the US District Court for the Northern District of California. As World and Olympic champions, the swimmers in question will understand better than others that FINA’s attention is currently and appropriately focused on the 950 swimmers, including two of the athletes in question, from 180 member federations taking part in the 14th FINA World Swimming Championships (25m) in Hangzhou, where prize money of US $ 2,070,000 will be distributed.
